Franconia Notch State Park- Cannon Mountain and Flume Gorge

Going up to the Flume Gorge
This is a natural gorge extending 800 feet at the base of Mt. Liberty.
The whole visit to the Flume Gorge takes about 2 miles- roughly 2 hours.

'Struggle to survive'
You can see here how nature struggle to survive. This large and very old Yellow Birch sprouted from a seed, may be carried by a bird. All along the trail we could see plenty of trees like this one. It's due to the thin soil, rocky terrain and poor growing conditions.
